"At 8am every morning, before the sun gets too hot, Fanette Johnson holds a Yoga class by the pool...though I am not the most experienced in the class, by the third day her hands-on approach and reassuring voice even encourages me into a full shoulder-stand - a personal triumph. "

THINGS TO DO
Classes of Hatha Yoga, Iyengar style are conducted daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 am in our newly constructed Yoga Pavillion directly overlooking the Caribbean Sea and with views to the crystal blue horizon. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced yogi, this class is open to all levels. Classes have been structured to allow a beginner to benefit safely from basic postures, while challenging the most advanced with greater flexibility and strength. You work at your own pace, following Fanette's constant guidance.
Iyengar method places special focus on developing strength, endurance and correct body alignment in addition to flexibility and relaxation. Standing poses are emphasized in this system of yoga. They build strong legs, increase general vitality, and improve circulation, coordination and balance. Iyengar Hatha yoga is meditation in action. As students do Hatha yoga postures the mind is focused on the actions of the posture and the movement of the breath. As the mind unites with the body and the breath, students move into a meditative state.
Classes are led by Fanette Johnson who has over 15 years of instruction experience, teaching for over four years in New York, where she was concurrently undergoing further Yoga studies. Prior to working at Rockhouse Fanette led Yoga classes at Swept Away Resort and the Negril Yoga Center where she continues to work.
Participants are charged a fee of $15 per class and are provided mats, blocks and an amazing view of the ocean!
"At 8am every morning, before the sun gets too hot, Fanette Johnson holds a Yoga class by the pool. It never gets crowded - on the busiest day there are four of us, and we're all impressed. Though I am not the most experienced in the class, by the third day her hands-on approach and reassuring voice even encourages me into a full shoulder-stand - a personal triumph."
