Caribbean", Ian Keown
"This is one of those back-to-nature resorts that lured the flower children to the rocky shores of Negril
all those moons ago, but this is a new Rockhouse. It's been taken over by a trio of energetic Australians, one
of whom is always there to keep and eye on things. It's been spruced up with such niceties as new cliff-side pool,
poolside bar, and Polynesian-style dining pavilion. Half the rooms are octagonal cabanas placed at the edge of the
coral cliffs for privacy and views, all timber and stone with tilted thatch roofs; half are in a two-story wing in
the garden dotted with cacti, almond trees, and traveler's palms."
"They all have old-fashioned ceiling fans as well as air-conditioning, and come with amenities like mini-bars and personal safes. You freshen up in topless shower stalls, lounge on chunky wooden chairs, sleep in custom designed four-poster beds topped with netting, and enjoy unspoiled, unhurried nature. Step ladders and steps carved into the Cliffside take you in or, if you dive in, out of the crystal-clear waters of Pristine Cove. The Rockhouse will rent you snorkeling gear or kayaks. The restaurant, open from 7am to 11pm delights guests with the Rockhouse Specials. 34 rooms."
